BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE
 

  •    1 pint  fresh blueberries or 2 cups (10 ounces) frozen blueberries, slightly thawed
  •    1 cup pineapple, orange and strawberry juice blend or pineapple-orange juice
  •    1 container (8 ounces) lowfat vanilla yogurt
  •    2 teaspoons sugar
     

    In a container of an electric blender combine blueberries, juice, yogurt and sugar. Blend until smooth, about 1 minute. Serve immediately in tall glasses. Garnish with blueberry skewers spiraled with thin strips of orange peel, if desired.

    Yield: 2 portions

  • BLUEBERRY-WATERMELON FROSTY

    bullet1 container (6 ounces) frozen lemonade or limeade concentrate, unthawed
    bullet2 cups fresh blueberries
    bullet2 cups watermelon cubes, seeds removed
    bullet1 cup ice cubes

    In a blender container, combine lemonade concentrate, blueberries and watermelon. Purée until very smooth. Add ice cubes; blend until mixture is slushy. Add sugar, if needed.

     YIELD: 4 portions (about 5 cups)  

    BERRY BLUE SMOOTHIE
     
    bullet2 cups fresh or slightly thawed frozen blueberries
    bullet1 container (8 ounces) lowfat vanilla yogurt
    bullet1 cup milk
    bullet1 can (6 ounces) unsweetened pineapple juice
    bullet3 tablespoons honey
    bullet1-1/2 cups ice cubes (about 16 cubes)


    In the container of an electric blender container, place blueberries, yogurt, milk, pineapple juice and honey; whirl until smooth. Add ice cubes, a few at a time, whirl until finely crushed. Serve immediately.

    Yield:  4 portions
               about 5 cups

    Per Serving:  200 calories, 5 grams protein, 3 grams fat, 40 grams carbohydrate

    BLUE WITCH'S BREW
      1 package (12 ounces) frozen thawed blueberries or 2-1/2 cups fresh 1-1/4 cups apple juice 1 cup vanilla ice cream 1/4 cup milk 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon


    In blender combine blueberries, apple juice, ice cream, milk and cinnamon until smooth.  Serve immediately.

    Yield:  about 4 cups

    BLUEBERRY- APPLE FROSTY
     
    bullet2 cups fresh or slightly thawed frozen blueberries
    bullet1 cup apple juice
    bullet1 cup frozen vanilla yogurt
    bullet1/2 cup milk
    bullet3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon


    In the container of a food processor or blender, place blueberries, apple juice, yogurt, milk and cinnamon; whirl until smooth. Serve immediately.

    Yield:  4 portions, about 4 cups
    Per portion:  134 calories, 3 g protein, 2 g fat, 28 g carbohydrate
     
     
     

    BLUEBERRY ORANGE WHIRL

    bullet1 package (12 ounces) frozen blueberries, unthawed or 2-1/2 cups fresh blueberries
    bullet1 container (8 ounces) vanilla low-fat yogurt
    bullet1/2 cup orange juice
    bullet1/2 cup milk
    bullet1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    In an electric blender whirl blueberries, yogurt, orange juice, milk and vanilla until smooth.  Serve immediately.

    Yield:    3-1/2 cups
                 4 servings

     

    BLUEBERRY FRUIT SHAKE
    bullet2 cups frozen blueberries
    bullet1 cup frozen mixed fruit (including canteloupe, honeydew, grapes, peaches, etc.)
    bullet1 cup milk
    bullet1 tablespoon sugar
    bullet2 teaspoons vanilla extract
     
    In the container of a food processor or blender, place blueberries, mixed fruit, milk, sugar and vanilla extract; whirl until smooth.  Serve immediately.

    Yield:  2 to 3 portions
     about 2-1/2 cups
